Yellow is the Color of The Year 2021. Better yet, Yellow + Gray

Since 2000, the Pantone Color Institute has chosen the “Color of The Year” every year.

Having become a real pop culture phenomenon, the announcement of the color of the year by the Pantone Color Institute attracts the attention of the world design landscape every year and tries to convey an iconic message to billions of color addicts.

The color of the year is selected by a group of experts who travel the world, visiting fashion shows, fairs, social events and famous tourist destinations to become aware of the hottest shades and emerging trends. What makes the color of the year important are two things: it indicates the color of the moment within a relevant sector such as fashion and design and reflects what is happening in society.

For the choice of the Color of the Year 2021 it seems that the Institute founded by Pantone has also documented itself through our website and our social channels.
Not only did they choose yellow, but like in 2016, they chose two colors, a combination that therefore creates a contrast that at least comes close to that of our brand: yellow and gray.
Of course, it is not the optimal contrast for those with low vision forms that reduce the perception of colors, but for us at NoisyVision it is certainly a good omen, hoping that it is better than those related to numerology of 2020, which had made us hope for a year of perfect vision.

The combination chosen for 2021 aims to convey a message of strength and hope, lasting and uplifting.

Ultimate Gray and Illuminating (“optimistic”) Yellow are the two nuances that Pantone has announced as the colors of the year 2021

Practical and solid as a rock but at the same time warm and optimistic, the union of PANTONE 17-5104 Ultimate Gray + PANTONE 13-0647 Illuminating results in a sign of strength and positivity.

The American Institute of Color claims that the combination of these two shades will help people “fortify themselves with energy, clarity and hope” to cope with a world that will be characterized by growing uncertainty.

The bright yellow hue, called Illuminating, evokes the “optimistic promise of a sunny day”, while Ultimate Gray is a much calmer shade of gray synonymous with “composure, stability and resilience”.

“The selection of two independent colors highlights how different elements come together to express a message of strength and hope that is both enduring and uplifting,” explained Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute. “Practical and rock solid yet warm and upbeat, this is a color combination that gives us resilience and hope,” he continued. “We must feel encouraged and edified, this is essential for the human spirit.”

Every year so much anticipation for the Pantone Color of the Year: why?

For over 20 years, the Pantone Color of the Year has influenced product development and purchasing decisions in multiple industries, including fashion, home furnishings and industrial design, as well as packaging and graphic design.

The process of selecting the Pantone Color of the Year requires careful analysis of trends. Each year, color experts from the Pantone Color Institute scour the world for new color influences. The entertainment and film industry in production, traveling art collections and new artists, fashion and all areas of design, as well as popular travel destinations and new lifestyles, are important factors. Influences can also come from new technologies, materials, textures and effects that impact color, relevant social media platforms, and even sporting events.
Here, in fact, as we said perhaps they have grasped the meaning of #YellowTheWorld

Among the reasons for the choice there are certainly those that led us to start this awareness campaign and to elect yellow as the color of inclusion
